We often spend a lot of time fighting to gain control over things outside our control. Our need for certainty, to know, to be capable, to achieve, often clouds us from being able to let go, to detach from outcomes, go with the flow and accept the limitations of a situation or circumstance.
Sometimes the more we fight the reality of a situation the more we feel locked in, held back or restrained. The moment you let go and accept what is, the better able you are to explore alternative options, uncover previously hidden possibilities and create more resourceful choices. You’ll finally begin to live life based on how things are not on how you wished it would be. Focus on creating the future you desire based on where you’re at versus moving forward limited by regret.
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- In what areas do you find it difficult to accept the conditions of your circumstances?
- How does your desire for certainty or control prevent you from moving forward?
- If you were to relinquish control what possibilities open up to you?
