Being loyal to your beliefs can help sustain you when you experience adversity. They help you stay focused on who you are, who you want to be and help guide your decisions and choices, often in more resourceful ways than if you allowed your beliefs to waiver. Being optimistic in the face of adversity opens up more choice and possibility, whereas, buying into your worry and fear makes you feel as if your choices are limited.
Sometimes having blind faith that things will work out frees you from unnecessary worry and reduces your anxiousness. In turn it enables you to focus on what you can change and helps you foster an attitude of gratitude.
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- Under what circumstances does your optimism falter?
- What beliefs might you need to adjust to help sustain you in the face of adversity?
- In what ways does buying into your worry help you move forward?
