Central to all of us is a need to know we are heard, we are seen and that we matter. Perhaps you feel this way. Perhaps you feel you are not heard as clearly as you intended, seen as much as you like or matter to the degree you desire. If this is true for you, it’s possible it is also true for someone close to you.
Sometimes, in order for us to receive what we’re after we need to know how to give it to someone else.
Take a moment to ask yourself:
In what ways would l like to be more seen, heard or to know I matter?
Who in my life might also want to be more seen, heard or to know they matter?
What can I do to show someone dear to me that I see them, I hear them and that they matter?
The important element to this activity is to look beyond the obvious. It’s easy to assume that because you simply heard what someone said that you have shown them they are heard. But did you truly listen to what was being said? Did you seek a deeper level of understanding?
You may think that because you make eye contact with someone that you have shown them they are seen. But did you truly take them in? Did you truly see their beauty and uniqueness?
You may think because you speak to someone and say thank you or said something kind that you have shown them they matter. But did you truly speak to their soul? Did you truly validate their worth and value in your life?
I invite you to take a moment to think about ways in which you show someone dear to you just how much they mean to you in richer ways you may have overlooked previously.
And as you do this, watch how what you receive in return is amplified!
