In our desire for certainty and knowing we have a tendency to simplify this complicated, messy, unpredictable, mysterious world we live in. When you watch kids play, they seek less to control their environment and aim more for experiencing the mystery, the magical world they’ve created. Yet as adults, at some point this freedom we had to see our world as being mysterious and fun became less acceptable.
It makes we wonder how this impacts our ability as adults to feel truly inspired, to be in awe, and to have a level of reverence and humility for how insignificant we really are in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps by seeking out more mystery rather than certainty we can relearn how to have more fun!
Take a moment to ask yourself:
When was the last time you felt truly “awe-inspired”?
How well do you embrace uncertainty over certainty?
How could you learn to find more wonder in our world rather than seek simplify and control?
