There are many elements that go into creating who we are and subsequently how we perceive and interact with our world. We are shaped by all the experiences that precede where we are right now and as we grow, we learn to adapt to the environment and people around us. Our experiences, that naturally occur in our life or those that we purposefully seek out, give us an opportunity to grow, evolve and adapt. Therefore, the more varied experiences we seek out in life, the more opportunity we give ourselves to grow and adapt in new and different ways. This variance helps us to thrive and adapt to change rather than to remain stagnant where we are.
Central to us processing our experiences is our mind. It is a powerful machine that enables us to filter all the information coming our way so we can make sense of our world. Our core filters are our beliefs, attitudes and values that have developed over time. These filters act like a lens over our eyes. As a result, we will process our world in a way that matches the beliefs, attitudes and values that we have in place. If we are experiencing challenges, blocks or pain in an area of our life it is most likely due to the beliefs, attitudes and values being in conflict with how we want to be. Therefore, to remove the challenge, block or pain we simply need to make the necessary adjustments to our beliefs, attitudes and values.
We all have the capacity to change. We have the power to literally rewire our brain. And the key to successfully rewiring our brain is through repetition. Quite often what holds people back from creating long-term change is their unwillingness to perform the new behaviour, action or thought over and over and over again. It’s like learning to ride a bike. It takes time to learn the steps and get your mind and body to co-ordinate the actions, often requiring a lot of concentration in the beginning. Then with practice and repetition of those steps riding a bike becomes effortless. Eventually, the steps involved in riding a bike become automatic and the possibility of unlearning how to ride a bike is impossible!
The Values Pendulum® Model is founded on the following beliefs: that change is possible for everyone, growth is constant and we are each responsible for the level of happiness and fulfillment we experience.

Think of your life as a journey. There may be smooth patches, bumpy sections, hills to climb and valleys to traverse. Some people come and go, and some stay forever. Some experiences excite us and some shake us to our very core. Sometimes we are shooting forward and sometimes we need to move backwards or sideways in order to advance. There is no perfect journey! What’s important is that you listen to the feedback you receive along the way so that you can adapt, adjust and change where needed to help you continue to move forward and experience more fulfilment, happiness and gratitude.
