“Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” I’m sure this rings a bell for anyone familiar with the Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As the story goes, the evil Queen would ask the mirror this question every day, and every day it would promptly reply with the answer she sought.
For some, to have a mirror like this would be ideal. We could ask it all our life’s questions and get the answer we need to help shape and guide our actions and decisions with more certainty and comfort.
Yet you already have access to the most powerful mirror. It’s in your presence each and every day reflecting back at you the answers to all your questions. Perhaps you simply didn’t know it was there or perhaps you don’t know what questions to ask to receive the feedback you seek.
Your friends, family, clients, customers, pets, business and so on provide you with extraordinarily accurate feedback on you every moment of every day.
Everything around you is a reflection of you. The world is your mirror. It reflects back to you what you are putting out.
Examine the following:
- The quality of the relationships you have with others – what’s the balance of give and take?
- Your perceptions and judgements of other people – critical vs supportive?
- How you view the world around you – is it through a lens of doom and gloom, or possibility and abundance?
- Your relationship with money – is it hard to come by, does it slip through your fingers, do you hold onto it tightly for fear it will go away, does it flow freely into your world, is it something you value and invest?
- The state of your business – does it have a clear message, supported by stable systems and processes, are people raving about what you do or provide, or do you have a gap you’re struggling to fix?
Take a good look in the mirror. You may surprise yourself with what you see. Perhaps things that appeared to be hidden from you have been right in front of your eyes this whole time…you just didn’t know where to look or what to look for.
By taking a realistic view into your mirror you are able to put yourself in the drivers seat of change. You like what you see…keep doing what you’re doing. You don’t like what you see? Then change your thinking to change your outcome.
And YES…it truly is that simple!
